Mt. Rainier Climbs

As the name indicates, these image galleries contain photos from trips (successful and unsuccessful) to the summit of our 14,412-foot volcano. I have been to the top five different times using four different routes: Kautz Glacier (2x), Emmons Glacier, Fuhrer Finger and Liberty Ridge.

Weather conditions and the strength of the summit team play a significant role in the eventual success of a summit attempt. Good judgement and the ability to remain calm as various options are weighed in the decision process. While the ultimate goal is to reach the summit, a more important goal is to return safely, with or without attaining the summit. The Mountain does not care whether you climb her today or next year.

Climb safely and you will enjoy more summit successes.
